ADCC winner Bia Basilio targeting professional MMA debut in 2023

Bianca Basilio is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and submission grappling specialist. Now, she has set her sights on making her professional Mixed Martial Arts debut later this year. B

Basilio is a promising talent and is determined to make her mark in the MMA world.

Basilio’s Previous Matches

Basilio suffered her first defeat in submission grappling at ONE FN 8 against Tammi Musumeci. The match was a close one, but Basilio lost via unanimous decision.

Despite this setback, Basilio remained determined and said in an interview with SCMP that she wanted to challenge an MMA veteran like Xiong in submission grappling. She also expressed her desire to compete in MMA  this year.

Basilio’s Amateur MMA Match

Basilio won her lone amateur MMA match in March 2022 by way of first-round submission in the MMA SupeCup. Since then, she has been focused on submission grappling, competing at the ADCC World Championships before joining ONE Championship.

ONE FN 8

During ONE FN 8, neither Basilio nor Musumeci secured a submission. However, Musumeci won due to the ONE Championship scoring system giving priority to submission attempts. Basilio responded to the decision on Instagram, claiming that she felt she had dominated the action.

Basilio’s Future

Despite her defeat against Musumeci, Basilio has a promising future in MMA. As a skilled submission grappler, she can contribute greatly to the expanding women’s grappling divisions, leading to a variety of interesting matches.
