Israel Adesanya, renowned for his kickboxing prowess in the UFC, showcased his grappling abilities during a recent training session with Logan Paul. While Adesanya has yet to secure a submission victory in his professional career, his ground game proved to be formidable.
Paul, seeking to solidify their partnership with PRIME, invited Adesanya and UFC featherweight titleholder Alexander Volkanovski to Puerto Rico. The training session aimed to cement their collaboration and was documented through social media videos.
The encounter proved to be a humbling experience for Paul, as the smaller Volkanovski dominated him on the mat. Adesanya, on the other hand, executed a triangle choke that forced Paul to tap out. Demonstrating prudence, the YouTuber recognized the threat and submitted before going out.
Logan Paul has successfully transitioned his internet fame into two notable sporting careers. The 28-year-old garnered two million pay-per-view purchases for his boxing rematch with business partner KSI and even went the distance with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. Furthermore, Paul has made waves in professional wrestling, participating in prominent WWE events such as the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and Crown Jewel.
Having expressed interest in MMA, Paul has contemplated a crossover and previously mentioned UFC lightweight Paddy Pimblett as a potential debut opponent. Adesanya later commended Paul’s humility and attitude as a sparring partner during an appearance on Impaulsive, highlighting their positive training dynamic.
Adesanya subsequently went on Impaulsive where he praised Paul for being a good sparring partner: “The I appreciate you don’t roll with ego because I’ve had some people in the past when I go to certain gyms all over the world and it’s just like people, you know, I’m as well, I guess I am. I’m a champ or I’m coming up or whatever back then. And they like, Oh, okay, I’m going to miss my chance. This is my chance to like show up almost like bro it is a sparring. “
