WATCH: Man uses BJJ to control and dominate his aggressor

Jiu-Jitsu is an art form that combines technique, control, and precision. It empowers individuals to defend themselves and maintain composure in confrontational situations. One prime example of Jiu-Jitsu’s effectiveness in subduing aggressors was recently witnessed, leaving spectators in awe.

During a recent incident, a man skillfully utilized Jiu-Jitsu to neutralize an aggressor. The execution was not only flawless but also displayed remarkable control, leaving bystanders impressed by the man’s poise and skill.

One particular technique, Kosoto-gake, stood out as it was flawlessly executed. The seamless maneuver showcased the effectiveness of Jiu-Jitsu in swiftly taking control of a situation. By leveraging proper body mechanics and strategic positioning, the man successfully subdued the aggressor without resorting to unnecessary force.

In such situations, some may wonder why individuals on the receiving end of the aggression do not resort to biting. However, it is important to note that if a chokehold is correctly applied, the person being choked cannot maneuver their chin to a biting position. Furthermore, attempting to bite during such encounters can result in the aggressor causing additional harm, potentially injuring themselves while decreasing their own bite force.

It’s worth highlighting that when faced with mounting aggression, individuals in a vulnerable position, such as being mounted, prioritize de-escalation rather than further provocation. The mounted position inherently places individuals at a disadvantage, emphasizing the need for a calm and controlled response.

Understanding the different ways people react to conflict is crucial in effectively managing confrontations. Two common responses arise from fear-based adrenal reactions: passive and aggressive responses. However, there is a third type of response, known as the assertive mode, which empowers individuals to remain self-aware and in control of the situation.

The passive response involves under-reacting to aggression, exhibiting submissive body language and hesitant verbal cues. Unfortunately, this response can further instigate the aggressor’s behavior, potentially leading to physical assault.

Conversely, the aggressive response involves over-reacting to a situation, displaying defiance through assertive body language, direct eye contact, and confrontational speech. While this response may initially deter the aggressor, it often escalates the conflict, leading to more violence.

The assertive mode is the ideal approach to conflict resolution. It entails assessing the situation and responding appropriately, exuding non-threatening confidence. Adopting the “interview stance” with knees bent, open palms for protection, and assertive body language, individuals communicate their boundaries without provoking further aggression. Verbal responses in an assertive mode should match the intensity required to de-escalate the situation.

Physical self-defense should always be the last resort, utilized only when all avoidance and de-escalation tactics have failed. By embracing an assertive approach, individuals can often prevent physical altercations and safeguard their well-being.
