Luis Elias is a rising Peruvian mixed martial artist. He showcased his skills and executed a remarkable submission during the recent UWC 45 event. He displayed a dominant performance against his opponent, Angel Munoz, before securing a calf slicer submission, a highly uncommon technique in MMA.
UWC 45, hosted by the well-known Mexican MMA promotion Ultimate Warrior Challenge, took place on July 2 in Tijuana, Mexico. The event brought together a diverse group of stars, ranging from seasoned veterans to promising prospects.
Among the prospects, Luis Elias stood out as he stepped into the cage to face Angel Munoz in a highly anticipated flyweight bout, which was part of the main card. Throughout the contest, Elias demonstrated his superiority in both striking and grappling.
With his impeccable defense, the 30-year-old Peruvian evaded Munoz’s strikes and showcased his grappling prowess. Elias effectively controlled Munoz on the ground, mounting a dominant performance that lasted nearly three rounds. However, it was in the final minute of the bout when Elias truly showcased his skills.
Pressing forward relentlessly, Elias landed a devastating combination of punches that left Munoz in a vulnerable position. Seizing the opportunity, Munoz attempted a takedown to escape Elias’ onslaught. But Elias swiftly defended against the takedown, maintaining top position and transitioning into a ground-and-pound attack.
As Munoz desperately tried to escape the relentless assault by rolling around, Elias capitalized on the opportunity and secured a calf slicer submission. Within a mere two seconds, Munoz tapped out, signaling the end of the fight and cementing Elias’ victory. With this impressive win, Luis Elias maintains an undefeated record, boasting a total of five victories.

Fans may recall former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira executing this technique during his outing against Eric Wiseley back in 2012. In the first round of the match, Oliveira initially attempted a knee bar, but Wiseley managed to escape. Undeterred, Oliveira quickly transitioned to a calf slicer, ultimately forcing Wiseley to submit.
