Jake Paul calls jiu-jitsu ‘pretty easy’ in latest McGregor call out

Jake Paul has set his sights on Conor McGregor following his upcoming match with Nate Diaz in August. The aspiration is entirely unrealistic and unlikely to ever materialize for a number of reasons.

Scheduled for August 5, Jake Paul will face former UFC title challenger Nate Diaz in a high-stakes boxing match. This bout serves as a chance for Paul to bounce back from his first career loss against Tommy Fury earlier this year.

While Paul continues to make waves in the boxing world, he has also secured a deal with the PFL. In an interview with talkSPORT, Paul reveals his desire to challenge Conor McGregor in the cage after he boxes Diaz.

Paul said: “When I knock out Nate Diaz, I think that Conor McGregor’s going to see me, want a payday and come and get knocked out. We can fight in the PFL SmartCage, whatever it is. I told everybody I would fight Conor in any form of fight. Because, in my opinion, he is that shot.”

Paul has had success as a boxer, but taking on a former two-division UFC champion would undoubtedly make his MMA debut challenging. The 26-year-old went on to say that he doesn’t anticipate that the transition to MMA would be particularly difficult for him.

He said: “I’ll do MMA. I’m not afraid. I’ve wanted to do that my whole career. [I have] a wrestling background. All I’d have to learn is some jiu-jitsu and some kicks, which seems pretty easy to me.”

To prepare for his potential MMA career, Paul has already begun training with UFC middleweight Bo Nickal. However, it’s worth noting that Paul’s comments downplaying the difficulty of learning jiu-jitsu and kicks might be a strategic move to increase the likelihood of a favorable matchup.

Paul is currently expected to make his MMA debut in 2024 and his team is said to be scouting for a favorable opponent.
