GSP reportedly asked Michael Bisping compete at UFC Invitational

UFC Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre and his former opponent Michael Bisping are set to team up and create an unforgettable experience for fans at this year’s UFC Invitational in December.

As part of the annual UFC festivities, it was announced that GSP would be making a highly anticipated comeback to combat sports. He will be participating in a no-gi submission grappling match towards the end of the year.

While the opponent has yet to be revealed, St-Pierre expressed his desire to have former middleweight world champion Michael Bisping join him on the card, but not as an opponent.

During a recent episode of his YouTube channel, Bisping shared: “Georges is trying to get me to compete on The Fight Pass Invitational as well. Georges has offered to train me. He’s invited me down to Austin, Texas to train with him and [John] Danaher… Which I want to do. And I would like to grapple. So I’m not saying it’s a yes. I’m just saying there’s a very good chance that I’ll go dance on the mats, on The Invitational Fight Pass.”

Bisping took to social media to further discuss his potential involvement and appeared to accept St-Pierre’s offer.

In a tweet, Bisping wrote: “It’ll give me something to train for. @GeorgesStPierre offered to help me train. Would be a please and an honor!”

Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping are certainly familiar with each other, having crossed paths in the Octagon during UFC 217.

Georges St-Pierre and Michael Bisping are familiar with one another since they competed against one another in the Octagon at UFC 217.

After establishing his dominance in the welterweight division for nearly a decade, GSP aimed to challenge Bisping for the middleweight title. In an impressive display of skills, GSP secured a third-round submission.

GSP became only the fourth combatant in UFC history to hold titles in two different weight classes. But due to a medical issue, St-Pierre vacated the title a month later.

On the other hand, Bisping continued his career. Unfortunately, he faced a first-round knockout loss against Kelvin Gastelum before announcing his retirement from mixed martial arts in 2018.

Since then, Bisping has become a beloved member of the UFC broadcast team.
