A chaotic brawl involving over 30 attendees erupted at the Bay Dreams festival in Mt Maunganui, New Zealand, over the New Year. The event was captured on video and showcases the extent of the chaos among festival-goers.
During the festival, a large circle formed in the mosh pit. It led to a violent confrontation between male and female attendees. The disturbing footage shows several individuals throwing punches, highlighting the intensity of the brawl.
In one particularly brutal incident, two girls were seen pulling each other’s hair before falling to the ground and continuing their altercation. One girl dragged her opponent by the hair along the ground, displaying the ferocity of the clash.
A few meters away from the main brawl, several smaller altercations erupted simultaneously. In one instance, a man swung his arms repeatedly. He landed multiple punches on another male attendee. Another group of men engaged in kicking and sparring, adding to the overall chaos.
The violent scenes attracted a crowd of surprised onlookers. While many watched in disbelief, some could be heard cheering, laughing, and encouraging the brawl. It ended up creating a disturbing atmosphere.
Police intervened in the chaos, taking three individuals into custody and issuing warnings for disorderly behavior to two others. Among those arrested was a 30-year-old man charged with possession of ecstasy. Despite the arrests, police reported that there were no major issues at the festival.
The Bay Dreams Festival is held annually on New Year’s Day. It is a two-day event that draws over 50,000 attendees. This year marked the festival’s fifth anniversary, featuring headline performances by Halsey and Tyler, the Creator.
