In the midst of a long-haul EVA Air flight from Taiwan to San Francisco, a heated altercation unfolded between two passengers. The incident resulted in a tumultuous mid-air brawl.
The confrontation was triggered by a seating disagreement. It escalated rapidly, prompting intervention from the airline’s crew.
The onboard chaos captured in the video depicts the valiant efforts of the air crew as they strive to pacify the combative passengers. Punches were exchanged amidst the distressing screams of fellow travelers.
Passengers yelled as one of the males had to be restrained after punches were thrown.
The altercation reportedly originated when one of the passengers expressed frustration over a neighboring traveler’s persistent coughing. Subsequently, he decided to move and sought out a vacant seat. After he took a seat, the original occupant of the seat reappeared after a few minutes.
It seemed that one of the males was punching the other while they were seated. When the flight attendant attempted to pull him away by grabbing hold of him from behind, she was struck in the head with an elbow.
After the crew intervened to defuse the situation, the guy seated sprang to strike him with a fist.
Screams from other passengers could be heard as the two guys brawled in the aisle. Finally the flight attendants assisted by other passengers broke them up. The startling sequences were captured on camera and became quite viral on social media.
The alarming incident unfolded approximately three hours into the transpacific journey. It elicited panic among passengers as the altercation escalated.
The two men were separated for the duration of the trip after the altercation, despite their persistent gesturing and yelling at one another.
They were subsequently handed over to authorities upon landing in San Francisco. The Taiwanese airline has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
