Security personnel had their hands full at Dodger Stadium during Game 2 of the NLDS as multiple fan brawls marred the event. Videos shared by user “@PlanZ33” captured the chaotic scenes, with fans exchanging punches and security teams stepping in to restore order.
One video featured two individuals wearing Dodgers jerseys engaging in a physical altercation in a restroom near the urinals. Another clip showed a female fan attempting to intervene in a scuffle between two males in the parking lot. Additional footage revealed two separate altercations on the concourse, all of which necessitated security intervention.
The exact triggers for these incidents remain unclear, but they appeared to involve Dodgers fans.
The Dodgers’ unexpected 0-2 deficit in the division series might have contributed to heightened tensions in the stadium. However, it’s uncertain whether any arrests were made or if anyone sustained serious injuries during the altercations.
As of now, the Dodgers organization has not issued a public statement regarding these incidents. The Diamondbacks managed to secure a 4-2 victory over the Dodgers in Game 2, taking a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five National League Division Series.
This turn of events was particularly surprising given the Dodgers’ recent achievements, clinching their 10th NL West title in the last 11 years the previous month. In contrast, the D-backs made a postseason appearance as the final NL wild-card team, ending a five-year playoff drought. They marked their return to the playoffs with a successful sweep of Milwaukee in the best-of-three wild-card round.
Game 3 of the Dodgers-Diamondbacks series is scheduled for Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET in Phoenix.
