Heavies throw haymakers in Austin like they’re in the UFC

As someone who has previously visited Austin’s 6th Street, it is disappointing to hear that the area has become riskier in recent years. While 6th Street used to be a place where people could go to have a good time and enjoy live music, it seems that skirmishes and incidents have become more common.

If you are planning to visit 6th Street in Austin these days, you may want to think twice. There have been numerous reports of skirmishes and other incidents occurring in the area, especially after dark.

Although the exact reasons for this increase in violence are unclear, it is possible that a combination of factors might be contributing.

The incident started with some classic hair pulling. Three women are involved and engaged in a gripping contest, intertwining all three of them. A man quickly intervenes to try and separate them; however, he faces resistance due to their entanglement. Despite being intertwined, they continue to throw hard punches at each other.

At one point, it seems like the man attempts to use basic level jiu-jitsu to pull one of the women off the other two. However, their grips on each other’s hair make it impossible to do so.

This is when the police get involved, and repeated whistles can be heard. The police apprehend all three individuals and separate them.

However, the situation doesn’t entirely de-escalate because the man who tried to separate them now resists and ends up being slammed into a vehicle.

In recent years, it appears that even law enforcement officials are struggling to keep up with the incidents. Reports suggest that there are often not enough police officers on duty to handle the crowds, leading to a sense of lawlessness on the streets.

So, what has caused this shift in the atmosphere of 6th Street in Austin? Some locals blame the city’s rapid growth and development, which has attracted more tourists and driven up the cost of living in the area. Others point to changes in the city’s demographics, as younger and more diverse crowds have started to frequent the area.

Regardless of the causes, it is evident that 6th Street is not the same place that it used to be. While some may argue that the increase in violence is simply a reflection of the changing times, it is hard not to feel nostalgic for the days when 6th Street was more about keeping it weird than engaging in incidents.
