WATCH: Luis “Pride” Escudero finishes opponent with an impressive flying armbar

UWC 47 took place Friday, August 25, 2023 with 8 bouts on the main card at Auditorio Municipal de Tijuana in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

Card was headlined by Rachid Haz against Jesús Ramos but another bout stole the show.

Luis Escudero was booked to face Juan Campos lower on the main card of UWC 47. Despite a modest MMA record, Escudero impressed MMA fans all around the globe. He had a record consisting of 2 wins and 2 losses heading into the event against a much more experienced opponent.

Juan Campos is a 145lbser with a record consisting of 10 wins and 16 losses.

Luis “Pride” Escudero managed to set up a flying armbar off of a caught high kick. Flying armbars are not really common in MMA, they’re considered a high risk strategy.

From the familiar names, UFC’s Paddy Pimblett was previously recorded finishing two in Cage Warriors.

Earlier last year, Craig Jones talked a little bit about the fact Israel Adesanya was attracted to the technique likening it to Adesanya’s character.

Elsewhere on the card Juan Rebolledo secured an impressive finish over Erick Morales with a submission in the first round.
