Craig Jones still interested in Gabi Garcia challenge: People out there do think she would win this match

Craig Jones is an Australian Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitionerwho has gained widespread recognition and popularity in the world of submission grappling after a break out run at ADCC 2017.

He has achieved considerable success in various high-profile grappling competitions and has been awarded multiple titles and accolades. He’s also helped coach UFC featherweight champion Alex Volkanovski and made tremendous impact.

Jones is currently accompanying Volkanovski to Abu Dhabi in order to corner him for the short notice title shot against Islam Makhachev. He went on the MMA Hour to promote the event and talked a bit about several interesting topics.

Craig Jones explains why he is eager for a grappling match against BJJ competitor Gabi Garcia despite their massive weight disparity.

“Well, I mean, obviously, it’s this started way back when I was on a slow grappling event and a girl called out Gabi Garcia for a match. And Gabi went on this rant. She’s like, if anyone calls me out.., and I was like, okay, I’ll take that bet. So we tried to get it to happen, got a lot of media attention, but yeah, we have been able to do it,” Jones said about the origins of the rivalry.

He added: “But I kind of want to do it because people out there do think she would win this match, you know what I mean? So I’m like, it started out as a joke. And then people were like, No, that woman would beat you up. And I’m like, Whoa, I think I can take it”
