WATCH: Protesters tussle with security guards after storming Crufts dog show

In a startling turn of events, protesters engaged in a heated altercation with security personnel at the prestigious Crufts dog show this past Sunday.

A small group of around five demonstrators (confirmed to be PETA activists) tried to enter the dog show showground. A camera captured the ensuing altercation. The protestors were being stopped by security personnel, but one of them made it into the center area with what looked like posters.

The video shows a guy trying to push a lady who was resisting being pushed to release a barrier as screams of “get out” and jeers from the audience can be heard in the background. The brawl then spreads into the sitting area.

Security then forcibly dragged her and the match, pulling one by the neck and carrying the other by his arms and legs.

During the chaos, activists dropped a banner proclaiming ‘boycott breeders.’ Another attempted to infiltrate the arena floor with a similar message, as confirmed by PETA.

Meanwhile, an Australian Shepherd named Viking claimed the title of best in show at the NEC in Birmingham.

Viewers from home took to social media platforms, reporting on the disturbance during the show’s highlight.

One wrote on X: “I heard some loud shouting in background in best of show in Crufts just now. Protest? Anyone else hear it?”

Michael and Ellie Shaw were attendees from Essex who witnessed the commotion firsthand. Mr. Shaw acknowledged the rapid response of security but remained uncertain about the protesters’ motives.

He told: “I did see it, but it was over so quickly I didn’t actually see what they were protesting. It was a lot of action but I don’t know if it actually achieved anything. They were really quick to get them off. It was quite a scrap.”

PETA’s Senior Campaigns Manager Kate Werner condemned Crufts. She said: “Crufts glorifies the breeding of deformed and disabled animals. PETA urges everyone to avoid this archaic canine beauty pageantry and asks those looking to give dogs a loving home to never buy from a breeder and adopt a lovable, loyal companion from their local shelter.”
