WATCH: Female cop’s arm is broken in late-night kebab shop brawl

During a furious late-night altercation in a kebab restaurant, a female police officer was pushed to the ground and reportedly spat on. She is now in the hospital with a fractured arm.

Following complaints of a scuffle, police were summoned to Falafel House on Hindley Street on Sunday. It is a well-known party strip in Adelaide.

CCTV footage captured a couple entering the establishment. Sometime later, the woman hurled objects at a customer while the man engaged in a physical confrontation with another bystander.

Manager George Alkoury attempted to intervene but was met with violence. The guy attacked him as well, knocking him to the ground. As the altercation outside his store persisted,  Alkoury swiftly shut the doors to his establishment.

In a bid to protect his customers, the manager is then seen rushing outside with a stick. In an interview with 7News, Alkoury said: “I’m protecting my customers, that’s my responsibility man.”

Alkoury reports substantial property damage and personal injury inflicted by the couple during the altercation, citing severe neck pain and other injuries. He continued: “Too much sore, too much pain, my neck, he pushed me this way and I have severe pain.”

When police arrived on the scene and attempted to break up the brawl shortly before one in the morning, they were allegedly spat on. A female cop ended up breaking her arm as she was thrown to the ground while intervening. She was then taken to a hospital to get care.

The trouble makers were a man and woman from O’Halloran Hill. Both of them are 26 years old and face multiple charges. The two have been detained and accused of a number of offences, including hindering police and aggravated assault.

The lady has been denied bail and will appear before Adelaide Magistrates Court on Monday. The man was given bail and has an appearance date in May before Adelaide Magistrates Court.
