WATCH: Prikhodko puts Gafurov to sleep with a D’Arce choke in the first round

The ACA 174 event on Friday featured an exciting bantamweight bout between Nikita Prikhodko (17-3) and Zukhriddin Gafurov (16-7-1). In the end, it was Prikhodko who emerged victorious by scoring a first round submission over his opponent.

The action began with the stars exchanging strikes on the feet. Prikhodko then scored a takedown, advancing to a dominant grappling position. As the commentary noted, “He may do it now. Yeah, I think that tells us he’s watching the D’arce.”

Sure enough, Prikhodko deftly transitioned to lock in a tight D’Arce submission around Gafurov’s neck. With the hold firmly secured, the commentators remarked “I think he’s pushing him. He’s out?”

Despite Gafurov’s efforts to escape, the submission  was deeply applied. As Prikhodko maintained relentless pressure, Gafurov went unconscious from the strangle. The referee was forced to stop the contest at the 1:07 mark of the very first round, awarding Prikhodko the technical submission victory.

The D’Arce proved decisive for Prikhodko on this night in Moscow. For the 30-year-old Russian, this marquee win adds further momentum to his 17-3 professional record.
