Tsarukyan reveals the reason he was able to endure through Oliveira’s guillotine

UFC star Arman Tsarukyan revealed the real reason he survived Charles Oliveira’s submission attempt during their thrilling encounter at UFC 300 on April 13th. The 27-year-old Armenian’s remarkable performance against the former lightweight champion was the biggest match of his career, and he emerged victorious after a back-and-forth battle that had fans on the edge of their seats.

Oliveira, known for his grappling expertise, attempted many devastating submissions, including a guillotine choke that nearly finished Tsarukyan. However, Tsarukyan was able to survive all of Oliveira’s submission attempts, thanks to a unique training regime that went viral on social media.

In a video from Tsarukyan’s training camp, he can be seen engaging in strength and conditioning exercises, as well as cardio training that involved hiking trips with his teammates while holding his breath. The goal was to prepare Tsarukyan to last longer in air chokeholds, giving him more time to escape.

“If you ever get caught in a choke in a fight, you will be able to survive for two minutes. That’s the point. And also, you should never panic when you’re in a fight,” Tsarukyan’s coach explained.

Their efforts paid off, as Tsarukyan demonstrated an incredible ability to survive and escape Oliveira’s submissions, ultimately winning the bout via split decision.

Following his impressive victory, Tsarukyan was offered a chance to face Islam Makhachev for the lightweight title, but he declined due to the short-notice nature of the offer. Instead, he has set his sights on another top contender, Michael Chandler, calling him out multiple times. However, a match between Tsarukyan and Chandler seems unlikely in the near future, as Chandler is scheduled to face Conor McGregor at UFC 303 in June.

Tsarukyan’s performance against Oliveira and his innovative training methods have solidified his status as a rising star in the UFC’s lightweight division, leaving fans eager to see what he will accomplish next.
