Former WWE star MVP is known for his impactful stints in the wrestling world. He has been notably absent from WWE screens for an extended period.
During his hiatus from the limelight, MVP unveiled a remarkable personal achievement: attaining a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The WWE star had a turbulent upbringing. He had to go through challenges in life, often fending for himself. Notably, he spent years in jail and describes it as an experience that profoundly shaped his perspective.
Sharing his win on Instagram, MVP disclosed that his relentless dedication towards combat sports was finally fruitful. After 11 years of rigorous training, he proudly showed his black belt. Expressing gratitude, he credited his mentors for their unwavering support throughout the journey. He also underlined that earning a black belt was only the beginning of a new chapter rather than the conclusion.
MVP wrote: “So, I did a thing. I achieved a milestone accomplishment in life. After nearly 11 years I have attained the rank of black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. And on the same day my Professor received his 5th degree. I plan to post a gratitude video very soon. SO many people that contributed to this accomplishment on my journey. So many training partners and teachers to thank.”
“But for now, thank you Professor Andre Santos ( @andregb_061 ) for the passion, the commitment, the time, the friendship and the brotherhood. You were there every belt promotion, every competition, every win, every loss, every injury, every step along the way. Also, thank you to Professor @sergiocostagb , Professor @flavioalmeidagb and of course Master @liberigb . This isn’t the finish line. It’s only the beginning of a new chapter. “El fin es el principio.”
While MVP’s presence on WWE programs has diminished in frequency, his protégé Omos continues to make waves in the wrestling scene. Regarding MVP, his newfound black belt level may have an impact on his position inside WWE or even lead to other opportunities outside of the wrestling industry.
