WATCH: Comedian Bryan Callen Tests Some of His New Jiu-Jitsu Moves on UFC Vet Brendan Schaub

A hilarious moment unfolded recently between comedian Bryan Callen and his friend, former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub, as Callen attempted to demonstrate a new Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu technique he had learned. The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, left viewers in stitches as Callen’s enthusiasm was no match for Schaub’s grappling prowess.

Bryan Callen, best known for his roles in shows like “Mad TV” and “The Goldbergs,” as well as his popular podcast “The Fighter and The Kid” with Schaub, is a BJJ blue belt who recently signed up at a new gym. Eager to showcase his newly acquired skills, Callen asked Schaub to be his training partner, or “uke,” in the podcast studio.

The 57-year-old comedian sat on the floor and instructed Schaub to grab him from behind and wrap his legs around him, setting the stage for Callen to demonstrate an escape technique. However, things quickly took a turn as Callen found himself tapping out to Schaub’s rear-naked choke, much to the amusement of those watching.

Undeterred, Callen persisted, asking Schaub to ease up a bit as he launched into an explanation of the technique, sounding like he was reciting his coach’s instructions. Unfortunately, his execution fell short once again, and Schaub transitioned to an arm-triangle choke, forcing Callen to tap out for a second time.

“Yeah, you wanna be here, guys. Here, get here. And then get over to the other side. This is not good for you here. But, what you wanna do is not panic and get your back to the floor or just stay here for a while and let them get tired. Now, you’re out,” Callen said, seemingly oblivious to his failed attempt.

While Callen might have learned a legitimate technique, his struggles were understandable, given that Schaub is a former professional mixed martial artist with a significant grappling advantage. Nonetheless, the incident provided a lighthearted moment of entertainment for fans of the dynamic duo.
