At a recent Karate Combat event, AJ Agazarm took the opportunity to confront Ethan Crelinsten about his intentions regarding the Combat Jiu-Jitsu International (CJI) tournament. The exchange, which was caught on camera, saw Agazarm pressing Crelinsten for a clear answer on his plans for the prestigious grappling competition.
For those who may be unaware, the CJI tournament has been making headlines lately, particularly due to the involvement of Australian martial arts legend Craig Jones, who reportedly received a $3 million grant to organize a competition to disrupt the BJJ scene. The event has sparked significant interest in the combat sports community, with many top grapplers eager to participate.
During the Karate Combat event, Agazarm approached Crelinsten and asked about his plans for the CJI tournament. Crelinsten seemed hesitant, responding, “Are you going to go for the ADCC or did you get, what happened with you, are you? Not too sure yet.”
Agazarm, sensing Crelinsten’s uncertainty, pressed for a more definitive answer. “So you’re not sure what you’re going to do?” he asked, to which Crelinsten replied, “I’m in ADCC, yeah. But you’re contemplating going out of it?” Crelinsten denied any doubts, stating, “No, I’m not contemplating. So you’re going to stay in it? I’m in ADCC, yeah. 100%? Yeah, 100%.”
Crelinsten competes in the 66kg division so it would have very little sense to have him competing in CJI which has -80kg and over -80kg divisions.
The exchange sparked interest among fans and spectators, with many taking to social media to discuss the implications of Crelinsten’s participation in the CJI tournament. Crelinsten is one of the few B-Team members that are opting to go the ADCC route
Agazarm’s line of questioning seemed to be an effort to get to the bottom of Crelinsten’s intentions, which initially appeared unclear.
Despite the initial uncertainty, Crelinsten’s eventual confirmation of his participation in the CJI tournament has generated excitement among fans of grappling and combat sports. With the likes of Craig Jones and other top martial artists involved, the CJI tournament is shaping up to be a highly anticipated event.
Crelinsten is scheduled to grapple UFC twerker Jordan Leavitt on May 30th. On the same card New Wave’s Helena Crevar faces ‘almost homeless’ UFC star Agapova.
