WATCH: McGregor’s son, Conor Jr, Earns First Stripe in BJJ

In Conor McGregor’s household, the legacy of combat sports excellence continues to thrive.

On Saturday, June 29, the Irish megastar will make his highly anticipated return to the Octagon after nearly three years. He is set to face former Bellator champion Michael Chandler in the main event of UFC 303.

McGregor is widely regarded as the most influential figure in mixed martial arts history. He made headlines by becoming the first contender to simultaneously hold two UFC titles, propelling the sport into new heights. His star power is undeniable, as evidenced by his participation in eight of the ten highest-grossing pay-per-view events in UFC history.

Recently, McGregor shared a proud moment with his followers. He posted a video of his son Conor McGregor Jr. earning his first stripe in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ).

McGregor wrote on Instagram: “My son @conormcgregorjr getting the first stripe on his jiu jitsu belt at @sbgireland and the @ufc are already here with their team and big cameras on a scouting mission haha”

Conor Jr. is the eldest of McGregor’s four children with his longtime fiancée, Dee Devlin. Born in 2017, Conor Jr. was followed by his sister Croía in 2019, his brother Rian in 2021, and another brother Mack in 2023.

During an appearance on RTÉ’s The Late Late Show, McGregor reflected on how fatherhood has changed him. He said: “I’m very proud and very blessed every day because the birth of my son has made me softer where I need to soften up. I’m overcome with joy and love. I never thought I would be that way.”

The possibility of Conor McGregor Jr. stepping into the Octagon one day to continue his father’s legacy is a tantalizing prospect for fans.

Before McGregor’s showdown with Chandler during International Fight Week in Las Vegas, he will face off with his opponent at a press conference in Dublin’s iconic 3Arena on Monda. McGregor has a history with the 3Arena, having competed there once. In that match, he earned a first-round victory against Diego Brandao in 2013. It was also the venue for the infamous press event leading up to his historic match with Jose Aldo.

The buzz surrounding McGregor’s return is palpable. Fans are eager to see if the former double champion can reclaim his dominance in the sport. His bout with Chandler is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
