In the aftermath of Mikey Musumeci’s fiery post-fight speech at ONE 167, where he leveled accusations of PED use against ADCC champion Diogo “Baby Shark” Reis, the Brazilian grappling star has responded, vehemently denying the claims and questioning Musumeci’s credibility.
Musumeci’s rant, which has been described as “eccentric” and “puzzling” by his opponent Gabriel Sousa, targeted Reis, alleging that the ADCC champion avoided a potential matchup due to testing concerns.
In a scathing response on Instagram, Reis fired back at Musumeci, dismissing his accomplishments and questioning his skills. “Musumeci has never won anything truly relevant in grappling. Winning the kimono world doesn’t mean much in the broader grappling community,” Reis stated.
He continued, “The true elite of grappling win ADCC and don’t isolate themselves in smaller events. With his low-quality Jiu-Jitsu, he wouldn’t make it past the first round at ADCC. That’s why he avoids competing there.”
Reis extended an invitation to Musumeci, challenging him to join the ADCC and face him in the first round. “Once I beat him there and show everyone he’s not on my level, I’ll agree to all the tests he wants and have a real fight, not just a grappling match,” he declared.
The ADCC champion did not hold back, threatening physical retribution against Musumeci. “I’ll punch and kick him to teach him a lesson in respect. Then, I’ll take him down, pass his guard, and finish him. I was born in Manaus, and where I come from, the remedy for crazy behavior is a good beating.”
Musumeci’s allegations of PED abuse and disrespect towards him and his family have been met with confusion and denial from Sousa, his opponent at ONE 167. Sousa questioned the validity of Musumeci’s claims, stating, “There’s literally no bad blood, at least not from my side.”
As the drama continues to unfold, the grappling community eagerly awaits further developments and potential responses from the involved parties. The feud between Musumeci and Reis has added an unexpected layer of controversy to the world of competitive grappling.
