Seth Daniels is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and promoter of the prestigious ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship, has sparked controversy after sending troubling messages to Craig Jones late at night.
This in turn caused Craig to resurface Daniels’ worst infraction in the BJJ community.
A while ago, in a instructional video, he accidently choking out his female uke during a demonstration of a counter to a low single leg technique.
The video, which was part of Daniels’ instructional series, “The Fight 2 Win System,” on BJJ Fanatics, showcased the grappling expert’s technical skills. However, things took an unexpected turn when his uke, who was participating in the demonstration, suddenly passed out due to the effectiveness of the technique.
What has raised eyebrows is Daniels’ seemingly unsympathetic reaction to the incident. Instead of expressing concern or apologizing for the unintended outcome, he can be seen laughing and exchanging amused glances with his student once she regained consciousness. The incident has sparked a heated debate among martial arts enthusiasts, with some critics accusing Daniels of being insensitive and reckless.
The uke is no slouch either. It’s an MMA veteran Brittney Elkin.
In response to the backlash, the student involved in the incident has released a statement, which has helped to clarify the situation. While Daniels’ actions may have appeared callous, it’s evident that his uke bore no ill will towards him and even found humor in the situation.
Elkin might’ve had a change of heart since, considering she left this comment on Craig Jones’ video.
Daniels went on to express regret about the two incidents in a social media comment he made prior to deactivating his account.
