Ffion Davies prefers Gi Grappling: There’s just so much more you can do with the grips and control

Welsh grappling sensation Ffion Davies recently joined Rampage Jackson’s podcast to discuss her illustrious career and upcoming plans. During the conversation, the ADCC world champion delved into her preference between training in the Gi or No-Gi.

“I definitely prefer training in the Gi,” Davies revealed. “There’s just so much more you can do with the grips and control. The No-Gi can get a bit slippery sometimes, but I enjoy the technical aspects of Gi jiu-jitsu.”

The 29-year-old phenom also spoke about the challenges of competing in both rulesets. “The transitions can be tricky, but I feel like my Judo background really helps me adapt. I love the variety of being able to compete in the Gi and No-Gi.”

With a million-dollar prize purse on the line, Davies is set to compete in the upcoming Craig Jones Invitational. When jokingly asked about potentially facing off against men’s stars like Mighty Mouse, the rising grappler seemed excited by the prospect.

“That would be an incredible opportunity. Mighty Mouse is a legend, and I’d relish the chance to test myself against him. At the end of the day, jiu-jitsu is jiu-jitsu, regardless of gender.”

As Davies continues her ascent towards the top of the sport, fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on her progress, both in the Gi and without.
