Craig Jones puts ADCC on blast: Some guys are getting 6 figures in show money – which is crazy because prize is $10k

In a recent interview, grappling superstar Craig Jones has shed light on some concerning practices within the world of competitive grappling. Jones, who is set to host his own high-stakes invitational event called the Craig Jones Invitational (CJI), revealed that certain athletes competing in the upcoming ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship are allegedly receiving six-figure “show money” payments, while the actual prize money remains relatively low.

“As far as I know, some of those guys are getting six-figure show money, which is crazy because the prize money is only $10,000 to win,” Jones stated. He went on to express his frustration with this apparent discrepancy, noting that it creates an uneven playing field and disincentivizes true competitive integrity.

The CJI, which boasts a staggering $1 million prize for the tournament winner, has already attracted many of the top grapplers in the world. Jones believes this significant increase in potential earnings will motivate athletes to truly “go for it” and put on a show-stopping performance.

“When you have a million dollars on the line, I think you’re going to see guys really going for it and not holding back,” Jones said. “There’s going to be a lot of action, a lot of submissions, and hopefully, some wild finishes.”

The CJI’s unique format, which includes three five-minute rounds and a 10-point must system, is also designed to encourage a more dynamic and aggressive style of grappling. By eliminating the possibility of stalling or playing for points, Jones hopes to create a truly captivating event that will capture the attention of grappling fans worldwide.

As the grappling community eagerly awaits the CJI, Jones’ revelations about ADCC’s alleged financial practices have sparked a broader conversation about the need for transparency and fairness in the sport.
