Jason Nolf is retiring from Wrestling to Pursue BJJ and other opportunities

Legendary NCAA wrestling champion Jason Nolf has officially announced his retirement from the sport. After a storied 22-year career on the mats, the 3x NCAA titlist is shifting his focus to new challenges.

Nolf, known for his dynamic wrestling style and unrelenting intensity, leaves the sport with an impressive resume. During his college career at Penn State, he captured three national championships, cementing his legacy as one of the all-time greats.

In a candid interview on the Athletes Ocean podcast, Nolf reflected on his wrestling journey, sharing his favorite matches and the adversity he overcame. From his epic battles against the likes of Zain Retherford to his gutsy performances while battling injuries, Nolf’s passion for the sport shone through.

However, the 28-year-old warrior has decided to hang up his wrestling shoes and pursue new horizons. With his sights set on the burgeoning world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Nolf is excited to test his skills on the grappling mats.

“I am officially retiring from sport wrestling,” Nolf announced. “Wrestling has been a huge part of my life for 22 years, and I’m grateful for everything the sport has provided me. But I have some new things I want to tackle, and I’m ready for this next chapter.”

Nolf’s transition to Jiu-Jitsu comes after a limited but impressive foray into the grappling art. Despite training for just a few weeks leading up to his appearance at the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational, Nolf put on a gutsy performance, narrowly falling to opponent Tye Ruotolo

Nolf’s wrestling prowess, tenacity, and competitive fire will undoubtedly serve him well as he explores the world of Jiu-Jitsu. With his sights set on Austin, Texas – a hub for the sport – Nolf plans to train extensively and compete at the highest levels.

In addition to his Jiu-Jitsu pursuits, Nolf will also be focusing on his role with Athletes Ocean, the company he co-founded. Based in Austin, the multi-faceted organization encompasses a media platform, software development, and a growing wrestling club.

“I’m excited to dedicate more time to Athletes Ocean and our new initiatives,” Nolf said. “We’re building something special, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

As the wrestling world bids farewell to one of its most electric competitors, Jason Nolf’s legacy will undoubtedly continue to inspire the next generation of grapplers. With his unwavering drive and innovative mindset, the future looks bright for this remarkable athlete as he embarks on his next chapter.
