Labour MP Will Stone is set to make his debut on the Polaris 30 card next month in Manchester. The North Swindon representative will face off against Cage Warriors veteran Matt Inman in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu showdown that has caught the attention of both political and martial arts circles.
Stone, who assumed office in July, is no stranger to the world of grappling. Before his political career took center stage, he was a regular competitor on the national grappling circuit and holds a black belt from the 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu system. His colleagues in parliament have described him as “hard as nails,” a quality that will undoubtedly serve him well in this upcoming match.
The event organizers, Polaris, announced the bout on their official Instagram account, highlighting the diverse backgrounds of the competitors: “UFC stars, World Champions, Member of Parliament.” This unique matchup showcases the broad appeal of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and its ability to bring together individuals from various walks of life.
Stone’s opponent, Matt Inman, is a decorated MMA standout and prolific BJJ competitor who will be looking to secure a significant victory in his return to the Polaris platform. The hometown favorite is expected to provide a stern test for the parliamentarian.
In a gesture, Stone has pledged to donate his entire purse from the event to the Kelly Foundation, demonstrating his commitment to charitable causes even as he steps onto the mat.
