Keenan Cornelius scraps Jiu-Jitsu X, Starts new podcast “Dojo Storm”

Keenan Cornelius has been conspicuously absent from the public eye for some time. However, recent developments suggest he’s gearing up for a comeback in a different format.

Cornelius, who made waves as one of the first high-profile podcasters in the BJJ world with the “Matburn” podcast co-hosted by Josh Hinger back in 2019, is now embarking on a new venture. The duo’s collaboration on “Matburn” came to an end, leaving fans wondering about Cornelius’s next move.

In addition to running Legion BJJ, Cornelius had established Jiu-Jitsu X, a subscription-based platform. However, the post-COVID era saw a decline in momentum for this project. Online discussions hinted at issues with the user interface and a lack of regular updates.

Now, in an interesting turn of events, the YouTube channel for Jiu-Jitsu X has been rebranded, signaling the launch of Cornelius’s upcoming new podcast titled “Dojo Storm.” This move suggests a shift in focus and potentially a fresh start for the BJJ black belt.

The first snippet of the new podcast features a new co-host, Ian Daube, a 10th Planet purple belt. Daube brings an inspiring background to the table. In 2023, he shared his journey detailig

“2012- I snapped my pec in my first match wrestling for Cal Poly. My collegiate athletic career ended before ever getting off the ground. I accepted it. A decade later, now with a family, I started learning jiu-jitsu so I can share it with my kids. I never planned or pictured myself competing again. After 2 ADCC events and pro MMA fight, I was able to compete and win an IBJJF No-Gi world title. It’s been a wild 6 months since committing to this sport.

The initial content of the podcast touches on themes of career transitions and finding passion in jiu-jitsu. Cornelius and Daube discuss the common narrative of individuals leaving corporate careers to pursue BJJ full-time.
