Jiu-jitsu phenom Kade Ruotolo provided an update on his brother Tye’s knee injury during a recent appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.
“He’s good. You know, every day he’s feeling better,” Kade said of his twin brother. “He just got some stem cells in his knee. So I think he’s starting to turn a corner there.”
However, Kade revealed the extent of Tye’s injury was quite severe: “You know, it was definitely a pretty rough injury. He tore like the majority of ligaments in his knee. I think one of the only ones he didn’t tear was, like, his ACL, thankfully. But yeah, you know, MCL, PCL, all these different ligaments.”
The recovery process has been challenging for Tye. “So it was definitely, you know, a rough injury and he’s just been on the backburner and just recovering and just resting,” Kade explained.
As Kade prepares for his upcoming MMA fight on November 8th, he expressed some mixed emotions about competing while his brother remains sidelined. “Whenever you’re winning alongside your brother, it feels so much better, you know,” Kade said.
He added that this will likely be his last MMA fight of the year: “I kind of made sure this is going to be my last MMA fight for the rest of the year. I’m going to stay recovering with him and then next year we’ll both come in strong.”
The Ruotolo brothers are known for their close bond and parallel careers in jiu-jitsu. Fans will surely be eager to see them back competing together once Tye completes his recovery.
