Keenan Cornelius Claims He Never Took PEDs, Viewing It as a Sign of Mental Weakness

In a recent interview, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion Keenan Cornelius made a surprising revelation about his stance on PEDs in sports. The grappling star disclosed that his decision to abstain from using steroids was not rooted in moral considerations, but rather in his perception of them as an indicator of mental fragility.

Cornelius explained in one of his new podcasts, “I honestly didn’t do ste*oids, not because I thought it was like the honorable thing to do, but I thought it was actually a sign of weakness.” He elaborated on this perspective, suggesting that relying on chemical enhancements in a sport where most participants are not using them is tantamount to admitting personal inadequacy.

The athlete continued, “Because if you believe that you need chemical enhancement just to participate in a sport where most of the people are not on it, aren’t you just like admitting that you’re like, basically telling yourself that you’re not good enough?”

Cornelius delved deeper into the psychological implications of PED use, stating, “And now like as a subconscious fundamental value, you’ve decided that like I actually am not good enough as my normal self to participate in this.”

While acknowledging the potential health risks associated with PED use, Cornelius downplayed their severity. He noted, “And so you’ve sacrificed potentially aspects of your health. Although I really think there’s not that many downsides. The main one I see is people losing their hair.”
