Mark Zuckerberg talks going anonymous at his first jiu-jitsu tournament

In a recent conversation with Joe Rogan on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared a fascinating story about his first jiu-jitsu tournament that involved some clever disguise tactics.

Zuckerberg recounted how he was hesitant to compete initially, watching a colleague from his Meta executive training group successfully participate in a tournament. This inspired his competitive spirit, prompting him to sign up – but with a twist.

“I rolled into this tournament and registered under my first and middle name so people didn’t know who I was. I had sunglasses and a hat and I wore a CO mask,” Zuckerberg explained.

His stealth approach was so effective that even his opponent was shocked when his true identity was revealed. According to Zuckerberg, it wasn’t until they called names to step onto the mat that he removed his disguise.

“It wasn’t until they called our names to step onto the mat that I was like, ‘All right, take all the stuff off,’ and the guy was like, ‘Whoa,'” he recalled.

The aftermath was equally amusing. His opponent’s coach was initially in disbelief, insisting it couldn’t be Mark Zuckerberg who had just submitted him.

This playful anecdote highlights Zuckerberg’s competitive spirit and his growing passion for martial arts, which he has embraced as both a physical and intellectual pursuit.
