WATCH: Riot breaks out after kneebar ends MMA contest

A submission victory quickly devolved into chaos at Alash Pride 105 in Taraz, Kazakhstan, when competitors and their teams engaged in a post-match altercation that required multiple officials to restore order.

The incident occurred during a bout between Tajikistan’s Muhammadrizvon Kahorov and Brazil’s José Ferreira at the Taraz Arena on January 31, 2025. The contest reached its conclusion in the opening round when Ferreira executed a technical kneebar submission, forcing Kahorov to tap out after enduring the hold for approximately ten seconds.

What should have been a moment of sportsmanship turned volatile when Ferreira approached his defeated opponent to shake hands. Witnesses report Kahorov responded with an unexpected strike to Ferreira’s head. Despite the referee’s attempts to separate the athletes, Ferreira retaliated by throwing punches around the official.

The situation escalated as members from both corners entered the cage, with one individual executing a jumping kick toward Kahorov. Security personnel eventually managed to restore order, but not before the incident had cast a shadow over what had been a technically impressive victory.

The event, which featured a headline clash between Davlatbek Abdukaharov and Muhammadumar Abdurakhmonov, marked another chapter in Alash Pride’s efforts to develop mixed martial arts in Central Asia. The promotion has built a reputation as one of the region’s leading organizations, providing opportunities for athletes from Kazakhstan and neighboring nations to compete professionally.

Alash Pride officials have not yet announced whether any disciplinary action will be taken against the participants involved in the post-match incident.
