Brazilian jiu-jitsu sensation Gianni Grippo took time out of his busy training schedule to connect with fans in an engaging “Ask Me Anything” session ahead of his highly anticipated matchup with Gabriel Sousa at ONE FN 28.
The grappling ace revealed he’s currently focused entirely on no-gi competition, though he remains open to potential changes in the future. When discussing training with legendary Marcelo Garcia, Grippo shared insights about his mentor’s remarkable defensive abilities.
“I wasn’t surprised at all. Marcelo never focused much on leg defence because no-one can ever get leg attacks on him,” Grippo explained.
In a more personal revelation, Grippo discussed his plant-based lifestyle, noting that while a relationship helped influence his decision, going vegan was something he had long considered. His favorite meal? A simple yet satisfying tofu stir-fry.
“And yeah, never even thought about taking any ster*ids.”
The champion also shared valuable advice for practitioners new to the sport. “Don’t get too caught up with techniques you see on Youtube,” he cautioned, emphasizing the importance of fundamentals and direct training experience.
As Grippo prepares for his upcoming contest, his commitment to clean living and focused training continues to inspire fans and fellow athletes alike. His matchup against Sousa promises to be an exciting display of world-class grappling skill.
The bout will be featured on the ONE Fight Night 28 card, marking another significant milestone in Grippo’s impressive competitive career.
