UFC athlete Bryce Mitchell is scheduled to face Jewish MMA prospect Ilay Brazilay in a grappling match as part of Karate Combat’s pit submission series, following Mitchell’s controversial remarks about WWII Germany leader.
Mitchell sparked widespread criticism last month when he made comments expressing positive views about the leader, claiming his opinions were based on “my own research, not my public education indoctrination.” His statements included unfounded claims about H itler’s actions and motivations, which drew immediate backlash from the combat sports community.
After facing stern criticism from UFC CEO Dana White, Mitchell issued an apology for his remarks. However, the controversy had already caught the attention of Israel’s Brazilay, who publicly challenged Mitchell’s statements.
“You are brave with your opinions in front of the camera ha? Disappointed to hear that from an athlete in your level because I had no idea you’re that dumb,” Brazilay wrote on social media. “Me and my Jewish friends will not be quiet about that… I welcome you to Keep that same energy next time you around me because I will come right to you. Enough with that stupid people around, they feel too comfortable.”
The upcoming grappling match, announced Thursday by Karate Combat, will pit these two athletes against each other in what promises to be a highly charged sporting event.
