Belarusian wrestler Zakhar Dzmitrychenka recently participated in Vietnam’s traditional wrestling competitions, showcasing his skills at local village festivals.

Dzmitrychenka, who competed in the 2017 Senior U23 World Championships in Greco-Roman Wrestling’s 85kg category and holds a 2-1-0 professional MMA record, dominated the competitions with his technical expertise and strength.

The events, which have a thousand-year history in Vietnam, are traditionally held during spring festivals to promote physical fitness and cultural preservation. These competitions are notably inclusive, welcoming participants regardless of their background or experience level.

“You demolished the village participants. Amazing matches. Welcome to Vietnam, champ,” commented one spectator who witnessed the performances.

Among his opponents was Dao Hong Son, Vietnam’s top-ranked jiujitsu practitioner, whom Dzmitrychenka defeated convincingly. The matches took place in a circular ring similar to sambo wrestling formats, combining elements of various grappling styles.

“I’ve been to the village festival that day to see the wrestling matches, and this guy is a beast! He literally dominated every person who was on the ring that day,” shared another festival attendee.

The event garnered significant attention on social media, with many Vietnamese fans praising Dzmitrychenka’s technique and strength while appreciating his participation in their cultural tradition. His presence has helped shine a spotlight on Vietnam’s traditional wrestling heritage, which remains an important part of the country’s cultural fabric.
