Head of UFC Fightpass Invitational teases hypothetical Rousey vs Nunes grappling match

Former UFC strawweight contender Claudia Gadelha has sparked intrigue among combat sports enthusiasts by proposing an intriguing grappling spectacle between two of the most dominant female athletes in UFC history.

Speaking about the possibility of a match between former bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey and two-division champion Amanda Nunes, Gadelha expressed her enthusiasm for seeing these elite grapplers compete under different circumstances.

“I don’t really know what’s going on in Ronda Rousey’s life right now. I know she has a family now and a lot of other things going on,” Gadelha said. “But for the fans that really love grappling, really love Jiu-Jitsu, really love Judo, how amazing would it be to watch Ronda Rousey and Amanda Nunes going against each other under the UFC Jiu-Jitsu rule set?”

The Brazilian athlete’s suggestion highlights an interesting possibility that would showcase both athletes’ technical abilities in a pure grappling format. Rousey, an Olympic bronze medalist in Judo, and Nunes, a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, both possess exemplary ground games that have contributed to their successful careers.

“Damn! I’ll pay to watch that. Would you?” Gadelha added, emphasizing her personal interest in seeing such a match materialize.

While this remains purely hypothetical, as Rousey has since moved on to other ventures including professional wrestling and starting a family, the concept has certainly captured the imagination of grappling enthusiasts worldwide.
