Take me down, win $1000 wrestler doubles down on claim he’s never been taken down despite evidence to the contrary

Despite mounting evidence suggesting otherwise, social media wrestling sensation Georgio Poullas maintains his undefeated status in his viral takedown challenge during a recent appearance on Marlon “Chito” Vera’s podcast.

“I literally haven’t been taken down,” Poullas insisted during the podcast. “Everybody’s in my comments are like ‘oh he doesn’t post when he gets taken down.’ I’m like bro, I literally haven’t been taken down.”

However, wrestling enthusiasts have recently circulated footage that appears to challenge this claim. In a clip featuring Poullas and a challenger named Joseph, observers noted what appears to be a successful foot sweep that momentarily put Poullas on his back before he executed a hip heist recovery.

“If I was the ref, I’d score it as a takedown and then reversal,” one wrestling community member commented on social media. “Joseph literally foot swept Georgio to his back and Georgio had to hip heist to get out.”

The debate has intensified within combat sports circles, particularly regarding the technical definition of what constitutes a takedown in Poullas’ $1,000 challenge series. The footage in question features quick editing cuts, making it difficult to definitively determine the duration of back exposure.

During the podcast conversation, even UFC bantamweight contender Vera acknowledged Poullas’ wrestling prowess, stating, “I don’t think I can take you down. I mean it would be easier if I dive under a leg and go for a heel hook… but pure wrestling I know I won’t take you down, that’s a fact.”

Poullas, a former state champion wrestler, has gained significant attention for his challenge series, which continues to generate discussion and debate throughout the combat sports community.
