Big Dan trolls commenter defending Eco: If it was that good you wouldn’t need to defend it online

In a recent podcast appearance, Dan Manasoiu called out an online commenter who had been persistently defending a controversial martial arts system across multiple social media platforms.

“What’s crazy to me is just the group of people that defended this dude with their life,” Big Dan remarked in appearance on Jits and Giggles podcast, referring to a particular individual who would write “paragraphs on paragraphs” of defensive comments.

The situation caught Big Dan’s attention when he noticed the same person posting extensive responses on various martial arts pages, including that of Tom DeBlass. What particularly struck Big Dan was the apparent contradiction in the commenter’s behavior.

“If these individuals actually spent this much time learning technique, they actually might [improve],” Dan observed, noting that the commenter was “spending hours and hours and hours defending it.”

Big Dan emphasized his main point: “If something was that good, you don’t need to defend it online.”

In an ironic twist, Big Dan later discovered that the same commenter had been posting technique instruction videos on their own page, which seemed to contradict their previous arguments against the importance of technique. “I’m watching him teach technique videos and saying you don’t need technique,” Dan noted.

Manasoiu  also pointed out how the commenter would often resort to using complex terminology, stating, “he uses some big words that most people can’t understand.”

This highlights ongoing discussions within the martial arts community about the effectiveness of different training methods and the nature of online discourse surrounding them.
