WATCH: 13-year-old uses Jiu-Jitsu to escape attacker

A 13-year-old girl successfully escaped an armed attacker in Timóteo, Minas Gerais, Brazil, using her Jiu-Jitsu training.

Surveillance footage captured the incident, showing the young teenager walking on the sidewalk when a 28-year-old man approached her from a corner. The assailant grabbed the girl by the neck and attempted to drag her toward nearby bushes.

Drawing upon her martial arts training, the quick-thinking teenager managed to disarm her attacker, taking his knife before running to safety. Military Police responded to the incident and successfully apprehended the suspect, who was later revealed to have a prior criminal record for robbery and trafficking.

The girl’s Jiu-Jitsu instructor praised her response to the situation, emphasizing how her training and presence of mind enabled her to act decisively in a life-threatening situation.
