WATCH: Strongman Martins Licis grapples two judoka at the same time

World’s Strongest Man champion Martins Licis recently showcased his impressive power in an unusual grappling match where he took on two junior judoka simultaneously at Keiji Academy, demonstrating that raw strength can sometimes overcome technical skill.

In a video that has gone viral across social media platforms, Licis, wearing a borrowed gi with a black belt (which he humorously disclaims he hasn’t earned), manages to hold his ground against two skilled judoka practitioners who attempt to coordinate their takedown efforts.

“Things got really weird when we decided to do a 2v1 round with the junior Judokas,” Licis shared on social media. “Surely with some coordination, I would have been demolished! Instead, I was able to grip tight and use one of my new friends for balance while the other attempted to trip me.”

The video shows the strongman using his superior strength to maintain position, often using one opponent as a counterbalance against the other’s attacks. Despite the judokas’ technical expertise, Licis‘s sheer power and weight advantage proved difficult to overcome in the friendly sparring session.

When the judoka finally managed to bring him to the ground, fans commented that he

“had them right where he wanted them,”

showcasing the playful nature of the encounter.

The strongman expressed his enjoyment of the experience and his desire to return to learn more:

“I hope to return to this school again, to learn more, and spend time with these wonderful people and athletes.”

Followers were quick to react to the unusual matchup.

“Like a father showing his kids he’s still got it,”

one commenter noted, while another pointed out the importance of leg strength, writing

“You see why leg days are important guys.”

The friendly exhibition highlights the different advantages of various martial disciplines and strength training, though it was clearly conducted in good spirits with all participants enjoying the unique challenge.
