WATCH: Bryce Mitchell shows Theo Von how to set up a twister

In a playful display of camaraderie and technical skills a while ago, UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell demonstrated one of his signature moves to comedian Theo Von during what appeared to be a casual encounter between friends.

The exchange, captured on video, shows Mitchell playfully engaging with Von, who was sporting his trademark overalls. “Oh you wearing me down. Sneak in a little wedgie,” Von can be heard saying.

Mitchell, known for his impressive ground game and specifically his mastery of the twister submission hold, quickly pointed out the positioning. “That’s a setup for a twister right there if I see one,” Mitchell observed, highlighting how certain positions can transition into the complex submission move that has become part of his fighting identity.

Von responded with humor, saying, “I just had to make sure you still got it. You know what I’m saying, dude,” to which Mitchell humbly replied, “I never had it.”

The interaction concluded with Von assuring Mitchell of his loyalty: “Some real [expletive] goes down, I got you bro. I got you back. I’m keeping you sharp.”

For those unfamiliar with Mitchell‘s career, the Arkansas native made UFC history in 2019 when he became only the second man to win by twister submission in the promotion. The twister is a notoriously difficult wrestling technique that involves a combination of spinal manipulation and shoulder pressure.

Mitchell would go on to show his variation of the move to the man who popularized it in jiu-jitsu – Eddie Bravo.
