Jocko Willink is an absolute psycho for openly saying he would instigate conflicts all day long in Jiu-Jitsu

In a revelation that has resurfaced and raised eyebrows across social media, former Navy SEAL commander Jocko Willink shared controversial insights about his interpersonal tactics during his military career.

Speaking on the Joe Rogan podcast, Willink openly admitted to deliberately creating tension between teammates.

“The SEAL teams I was an instigator,” Willink stated without hesitation. “If I could talk smack to two different people and let them start to get escalating like they wanted to [engage in conflict], I would do that all day long.”

The admission didn’t stop at his military days. Willink, who has built a successful post-military career as an author, podcaster, and leadership consultant, revealed this behavior continued into his civilian life as a jiu-jitsu instructor.

“Especially once I started training people jujitsu, you know, I’d be the guy that was saying ‘Oh, he thinks he could take you now because he trained for two weeks. You haven’t been here.’ And what do you… he said that,” Willink recounted.

Social media reactions have been mixed, with some viewers expressing concern about a respected leadership figure promoting such provocative behavior, while others suggest his comments were made in jest.

Mental health experts note that deliberately creating conflict between colleagues or teammates can damage group cohesion and trust—qualities that Willink himself emphasizes in his leadership philosophy.

The podcast episode continues to generate discussion about leadership styles, military culture, and responsibility when influencing others, particularly given Willink’s significant following among military personnel, business leaders, and fitness enthusiasts.
