In a candid video statement addressing his recent departure from B-Team, Jay Rodriguez has responded to various rumors circulating within the jiu-jitsu community.
“I just wanted to come on here and offer some clarity and just be transparent with everything that has been going on,” Rodriguez began, directly addressing the controversy surrounding materials found on his phone.
Rodriguez confirmed that his phone contained “screenshots of woman’s public Instagram page as well as ex*licit material,” acknowledging that his actions were “invasive, inappropriate and just unhealthy behavior.”
“Just because these posts were public it does not make my actions okay, and I take full accountability for everything that I’ve done,” he stated.
The athlete specifically refuted several rumors that have emerged since his removal from the team, including claims that he used AI to generate adult content or secretly captured photos or videos of individuals.
“These rumors are false and it only drags more people into something that they are not a part of,” Rodriguez clarified. “I’m not saying this to defend myself, but I am saying this to stop the spread of unnecessary harm.”
This statement follows recent developments where a second woman came forward regarding Rodriguez’s removal from B-Team. In her social media post, she thanked B-Team co-founders Craig Jones and Seth Rollick for “taking this situation seriously and taking the proper steps to ensure the safety of the female members.”
Her statement followed teammate Ally Wolski’s earlier comments addressing the controversy. Rodriguez had previously admitted to having “unhealthy interactions with women in the gym” and mentioned seeking therapy.
Rodriguez concluded his video message with a plea to the community to respect the privacy of those affected by his actions.
“Stop reaching out to people looking for answers in regards to who it was,” he urged. “Please give the people affected by my actions the promises and space that they deserve.”
The B-Team leadership has maintained their position throughout the controversy, previously stating: “Jay Rod is no longer a part of B Team. He has stated the reasons for his removal. B Team is a safe training place for all and we have a zero tolerance policy for anyone breaching that trust.”
Rodriguez reportedly continues training at East Austin Jiu-Jitsu, while neither he nor B-Team has commented on whether his removal is permanent or if there’s a potential path for reinstatement in the future.
