During the wide-ranging conversation where the MMA stars discussed everything from UFC matchups to politics, Shields described a tense moment on a flight where he witnessed a disturbing scene.
“I choked a f***ing guy out on a plane not too long ago,” Shields revealed. “It was a weird situation. There was like a big brawl broke out on a plane. Some dude was like attacking someone like a kid.”
Shields explained that he took immediate action when he saw the man attacking someone holding a child.
“I like jumped over, choked the f*** unconscious, and then bounced,” he said.
The former UFC welterweight title challenger detailed how he had to “fly over like f***ing eight rows” to reach the altercation because no one else was intervening.
“Everyone was just sitting there watching a dude punch a dude holding a toddler,” Shields recalled.
After subduing the aggressor with a chokehold, Shields quickly left the scene. He mentioned receiving calls from police afterward but chose not to get further involved in the situation.
“I was hoping a little clip would pop out or something,” Shields admitted, noting the incident never made headlines. He added that the man he subdued later tried to have him arrested, telling police, “He beat me up. Arrest me,” but according to Shields, the aggressor was the one ultimately arrested.
The star emphasized that his intervention was based on a simple principle:
“You don’t f***ing punch a dude that holds a toddler.”
