In a recent episode of The FloGrappling Show, it was revealed that the viral video showing Craig Jones being “arrested” at the FloGrappling office was in fact a staged publicity stunt.
The video, which went viral on social media last Monday, showed Jones being escorted out of the FloGrappling office in handcuffs by security personnel. Many fans reacted strongly to the footage, with some even threatening to cancel their FloGrappling subscriptions if the arrest was legitimate.
“The video was fake. We got you. We got you guys. We got you a little bit,” said one of the hosts on the show, finally addressing the staged nature of the clip.
The team clarified several details about the video: Jones was indeed in handcuffs (zip ties), and the security personnel shown were the actual security staff from the FloGrappling office building who participated in the stunt. The security guards were described as “good sports” for their involvement.
As part of the stunt, Jones also shattered a poster, which was not planned and resulted in Jones cutting his knee. This unplanned moment added to the authenticity of the video, which was designed to look like security camera footage.
“Craig, like Craig says, anything from the CCTV footage, people will believe. And man, did he… that was pretty accurate. Everybody really believed it,” commented one of the hosts.
The staged video appears to be part of a new partnership between FloGrappling and Craig Jones, with the hosts indicating that more news about their collaboration would be announced in the coming weeks.
“I don’t want to, you know, kind of spoil it all right now, but yeah, at the very least, you know, the video was fake,” explained one host.
The show also addressed the history between FloGrappling and Craig Jones, noting that despite community perception of tension between the two parties, there has always been some level of working relationship behind the scenes.
“The reality is like we never were like we’re not working with Craig, we’re not working with CJI. That was never the thing… we’ve always kind of maintained some level of relationship with Craig and relationship with CJI.”
This stunt marks what appears to be a public reconciliation between Craig Jones and FloGrappling, with hints at a significant collaboration to come.
“Obviously, what Craig has done over the past year has been incredible and brought a lot of eyes to the sport, and we’ve always had a great relationship with Craig. He did the Who’s Next Reality show with us back then.”
Despite the manufactured controversy, it appears there’s genuine collaboration in the works.
“We’re building more bridges and less walls,” Reed continued. “We genuinely love jiu-jitsu… It’s just exciting that Craig’s coming back into the fold.”
