Danaher Prodigy Helena Crevar Captures IBJJF Brown Belt World Championship at Just 18

Helena Crevar has claimed the 2025 IBJJF Brown Belt World Championship in the adult female middle weight division (152.60 lbs), adding another prestigious title to her growing collection of accolades.

The 18-year-old jiu-jitsu phenom, representing Alliance for this gi competition, dominated her bracket of 18 competitors, winning four matches with two submissions while allowing no points to be scored against her—only advantages.

Crevar is likely registered under Giancarlo Bodoni, who trained under Bernardo Faria (Alliance).

“Today, I became a brown belt IBJJF World Champion. It was an absolutely amazing day,” Crevar shared on her social media account. “I had a bracket of 18 girls, 4 matches with two submissions and no points scored on me other than advantages.”

What makes Crevar‘s victory particularly impressive is her primary focus on no-gi jiu-jitsu in recent years.

“Two months ago I fought at Pans after just getting back to training gi regularly at the beginning of the year after taking 2 years off to only train no-gi,” she explained. “I’m incredibly proud of my achievement today in the gi because as a mostly no-gi athlete fighting against girls that train gi full time in some of the best gyms in the world, I was able to come out with the win.”

The tournament saw Crevar systematically work her way through the bracket after receiving a first-round bye. Her championship run culminated in a victory over Lillian Jane Marchand from Atos Jiu-Jitsu in the final. Marchand claimed silver, while Mariah McKennitt Alvares Barbosa (Double Five) and Olivia Evelyn Schauer (Tony Passos Jiu-Jitsu) secured bronze medals.

Crevar trains under the renowned John Danaher alongside elite competitors like Gordon Ryan and Garry Tonon, all of whom she credited for her success.

“I am incredibly grateful to my professors and team @danaherjohn @gordonlovesjiujitsu @garrytonon for the support in training and preparation for all my tournaments,” she stated.

Ryan, widely considered the greatest no-gi grappler in the world today, showed his support and confidence in his teammate on social media:

“@helenajiujitsugirl is your 2025 adult brown belt female world champion…at 18 years old. I expected nothing less.”

Crevar‘s championship performance demonstrates her versatility and commitment to excellence in both gi and no-gi formats.

“My goal is to be one of the best in the world in both gi and no-gi,” she affirmed. “Every match I do is testing myself and getting experience. Today was nothing different, I came focused, ready, and got the results I worked for.”

With this world championship victory at such a young age, Helena Crevar continues to establish herself as one of the most promising talents in the sport of Brazilian jiu-jitsu, with potentially many more world titles in her future.
