Kick streamer Adin Ross learned a hard lesson about the world of elite mixed martial arts when a training session with UFC royalty took an unexpectedly intense turn.
Ross recently traveled to a New York City gym for what he thought would be a collaborative content opportunity with lightweight champion Islam Makhachev and his legendary coach Khabib Nurmagomedov. The session was part of match week preparations ahead of Makhachev’s massive UFC 322 bout, where the Russian champion aims to capture a second world title at welterweight.
From the moment Ross arrived, it became apparent that the internet personality was in over his head. The 25-year-old showed up wearing bright pink shorts and couldn’t resist checking his phone throughout the warm-up, behaviors that didn’t escape the team’s notice.
When Nurmagomedov first encountered the streamer at the facility, the retired champion seemed genuinely perplexed by his presence. Ross explained that manager Ali Abdelaziz had extended the invitation, prompting Nurmagomedov to respond:
“He’s not the boss here, why you never ask?”
The tension continued as Ross struggled to keep pace during the team’s warm-up run. Nurmagomedov wasn’t shy about expressing his expectations, telling the visibly exhausted content creator:
“Shut up and run. Streamer today gonna be screamer.”
Makhachev also noticed Ross’s security detail in the gym and questioned whether they would intervene if things got physical, asking:
“Is that your security? Is he a MMA star? If something happens in the gym, is he going to help you?”
The situation escalated when Abdelaziz suggested a grappling session with Ross. Despite the team joking that their manager was past his athletic prime, the matchup was remarkably one-sided. Within moments of engagement, Abdelaziz secured a submission that left Ross gasping and forced to tap out almost immediately.
Despite the awkward moments and physical discomfort, Ross expressed genuine appreciation for the experience, telling Nurmagomedov it was an honor to meet him. The Russian coach offered parting advice for any future visits: ditch the pink shorts for something black.
