Helena Crevar Says She Isn’t Interested in MMA Right Now and Clarifies Her ONE FC Contract Isn’t Exclusive

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu phenom Helena Crevar recently revealed details about her professional career during a special Zoom interview with IMA Worcester ahead of her scheduled match at ONE FN 39 against Teshya Alo on Friday January 23rd. When asked about potential MMA plans and her competitive future the young grappling star made a significant announcement about her professional status.

“Yeah, I just recently signed the contract in July and I debute in January”

Crevar stated this when confirming her relationship with ONE Championship.

This update marks a major step in the teenager’s already impressive career in combat sports. She achieved her black belt in an unprecedented seven month span from purple belt which adds even more weight to her current momentum.

“I got my purple belt last year in September. Uh after that, uh brown was in December and then black in June. So in seven months, I believe.”

What makes Crevar’s ONE FC contract stand out is the flexibility it provides. Unlike restrictive agreements that lock athletes into a single promotion she clarified that her arrangement leaves room to compete in other places.

“My contract’s open to compete everywhere else”

This means she can continue taking part in different grappling tournaments while still meeting her ONE Championship commitments.

On her living situation Crevar confirmed she has no intention of relocating overseas despite signing with the Singapore based promotion.

“I definitely will still live here and just travel whenever I have a match”

She indicated she will remain based in Austin Texas where she trains under Professor John Danaher at New Wave Jiu-Jitsu.

The key to success in such an environment, according to Crevar, lies in selecting the right training partners.

“It’s important for them to get good male training partners,” she emphasized. “I train with pretty big guys and they’re all really safe to train with. They don’t go full on, they lower their pace so that we can both have a good round.”

When asked about potential MMA plans outside her grappling career Crevar made her current stance clear.

“At the moment, no MMA. Um, just jiu-jitsu”

She left a slight possibility for later developments by adding:

“I mean, we’ll see what the future holds, but right now, like for the next, uh, year or two, probably not.”

Crevar also shared that she manages much of her career alongside her parents instead of using a professional manager.

Her ONE Championship signing adds another achievement to her growing list. Crevar has become known for her signature pigtail hairstyle and her exceptional leg lock game which makes her one of the most exciting young prospects in submission grappling today.
