Diogo Reis defeats Daiki Yonekura At ONE FN 38

Brazil’s Diogo “Baby Shark” Reis successfully claimed the flyweight submission-grappling title at ONE FC with a dominant unanimous decision victory over Japan’s Daiki Yonekura. Over ten grueling minutes the two-time ADCC World Championship titleholder showed precisely why many regard him as the world’s premier 135‑lb (61 kg) grappler.

Yonekura is a black belt under Yuki Nakai. He came into the match with a reputation as a leg-lock specialist. He is known for heel-hook finishes in no-gi competition. The chance to capture the world grappling title and bring it to Japan represented a career-defining moment for the challenger.

From the opening seconds Reis imposed an unrelenting pace that defined the bout. His guard-passing and ceaseless pressure allowed little room for Yonekura to mount his own attacks.

He sliced through guard with clean knee-slice passes and maintained weighty side-control. He worked toward submission attempts including an arm-triangle. Although Yonekura escaped Reis stayed on him. He relentlessly pressured and chained attacks.

Yonekura showed impressive resilience under pressure. He survived repeated submission attempts and recovered guard multiple times. He maintained composure under heavy top control demonstrating strong defensive awareness even against one of the most active passers in the sport.

As the match neared its conclusion both grapplers engaged in leg-entanglement exchanges in a chaotic scramble. Yonekura launched a sudden offensive burst. Reis immediately countered with his own leg entanglements while maintaining top-pressure control. Neither grappler secured a finish before time expired.

After ten minutes of nonstop action all three judges awarded a unanimous decision to Reis. He became the new ONE Flyweight Submission Grappling World Champion.
