Ronaldo Delibero promoted to Coral Belt

Ronaldo Delibero received one of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s highest honors, the coral belt. The promotion, conducted by Carlson Gracie Jr, recognized a lifetime commitment to the martial art spanning more than four decades. The award was presented following a speech by Carlson Gracie Jr,

“I have known Ronaldo for more than 40 years.”

he said during the ceremony, which took place before a gathering of academy members and practitioners. He expressed the privilege of honoring Delibero, noting their shared history and long-standing connection in the BJJ community.

The coral belt represents an achievement that extends far beyond technical skill or competition success. Marked by its distinctive red and black pattern, it is reserved for those who have dedicated over 30 years not only to practicing but also to teaching, preserving, and advancing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The rank acknowledges continuous growth and influence that reaches throughout the global Jiu-Jitsu community.

During his acceptance speech, an emotional Delibero thanked his training partner and supporter of seven years, noting how that relationship opened new doors for his development. He also expressed gratitude to his master acknowledging the lineage and tradition he represents.

“I have trained Jiu-Jitsu for 40 years. I never stopped, I never stopped.”

Delibero said to the assembled crowd. His words reflected the unwavering dedication that defines a coral belt recipient.

“Jiu-Jitsu is my life. Jiu-Jitsu is my mental health. Jiu-Jitsu is my medicine.”

A three-time International Master champion in North America, Delibero has built his legacy not just through personal achievement but through his service to the art. His journey embodies what the coral belt symbolizes: persistence, leadership, and a commitment to passing knowledge to future generations.

The ceremony at Fight Sports Miami honored not just one man’s accomplishment but the values that sustain Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a living tradition.

“Jiu-Jitsu is my life, my life. I love Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-Jitsu is my family.”
