Georgio Poullas made an impressive statement in his RAF debut, securing a technical fall victory over opponent Mugzy in the opening contest of RAF 05. The dominant performance not only earned Poullas bragging rights but also delivered on his confident pre-match prediction.
Speaking with Mike Hack backstage following his victory, Poullas reflected on executing his game plan to perfection. “I’ve been training hard for this. I kind of said at the press conference, ‘You know, I was pretty confident.’ I told him, ‘You know, this will be a one match period.’ I lived up to that statement,” the wrestler explained.
Despite the decisive nature of his win, Poullas showed respect for his competitor, acknowledging Mugzy’s contributions to the sport. “I got a lot of respect for Mugzy. He’s a great guy and I think what he does for the sport is amazing,” Poullas said.
He expressed interest in building a relationship beyond their competitive match, noting his excitement about potential collaborations both within RAF and in the social media space.
The match itself featured moments of tension, with some physical exchanges raising questions about whether emotions had escalated. When asked about the confrontation, Poullas kept it real about the competitive nature of the sport.
“It’s show biz. At the end of the day, when we’re out there, we’re out there. So, you know, when when we’re on that mat, I don’t like him. He doesn’t like me. I’m there to k*ll him. He’s there to k*ll me. So, what you saw, it was all real. But outside of the mat, we’re all good,” he clarified.
One of the most meaningful aspects of the victory for Poullas was sharing the moment with family. His father and brother were in attendance, with his brother proudly holding a sign of support.
For Georgio, having family present brought back memories of previous achievements. “I remember winning the state tournament. I have a picture of me hugging my dad and my mom and you know that for me there was nothing like that. But to continue to have their support here, it means the world,” he said.
The technical fall victory marks a successful beginning to Poullas’s RAF career, establishing him as a competitor to watch in future events.
